Ted Talk Questions

Do you agree with the Ted Talk?  Why or why not?  Will you change any of your current behaviors as a result of listening to this talk?  What impact do you think this digital age will have on society in the future?

I completely agree with Ted Talk, technology is getting out of hand and people start t forget how to connect with each other. In result to this Ted Talk I am going to try to connect with my friends without technology and instead invite them to hang out instead of talking on the phone or texting. I am hoping the children who are growing up with technology will learn that you don't have to have cool, new technology to have fun. You can go sit down and read a paper back book, watch a movie with your family, go to the park with your friends, or ride your bike in the summer air.

According to the Talk, what are the places that technology is taking us to, that we don't want to go?

Engineers are creating robots that we can communicate to which is replacing basic communication with each other.

What are some inappropriate use of technology that were mentioned in the Talk?
Children are using their technology instead of playin outside using them during dinner time or family time.

What does she mean by "Hiding From Each Other"?
Sherry means that we are not communicating face to face.

What concern is raised with kids who would rather "Text than Talk"?
I am concerned that children will not go be kids and go play outside or grow up too fast from looking at celebrities on social media.

What impact does the feelin that "No one is listening" have o people?
People will turn to their phones and other technology instead of turning to their friends and family.

Why are people expecting more from technology and less from each other?
Well, said in the Ted Talk, people are expecting to people to automatically looking at each others social media accounts and are using auto correct way too much and are one day going to forget how to spell.

What is the illusion of companionship without the demands of friendship?
People are confusing the "companionship" of technology and believe technology can actually understand them or something.

What are the three things mentioned in the Talk, that we all want, in order to be comfortable and in control?
We all want someone to listen to us, people or someone/something to understand what we are going through, companionship, friendship, and to not be alone.
